This activity help to build children´s imagination and creativity . It is a wonderful way to develop fine motor skills and something very important nowadays: patience.

Some cutting and folding is a good exercise to help children to figure out geometric figures.

Every reading session becomes a fun activity while kids see their own progress in several ways. The more they read the closer they get to have their paper-craft robot as a final reward.

Automated printing has limitations and though the desire is to have the paper-craft robot on a sheet with good thickness, we had to use the same paper thickness of the interior pages, but this is no limitation for having FOUR wonderful robots.

About the Author

John D. Brewer is Professor of Post Conflict Studies in the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation and Social Justice at Queen's University, Belfast. He was previously Sixth-Century Professor of Sociology at Aberdeen University. He has held visiting appointments at Yale University, St John's College, Oxford, Corpus Christi College Cambridge and the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University. He was, until 2012, President of the British Sociological Association and a member of the Governing Council of the Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Science.

Billows suggests that it is only when we see Caesar as the leader of a great political and social movement, that had been struggling with its rival movement for decades and had been several times violently repressed in the course of that struggle, that we can understand how and why Caesar came to fight and win a civil war, and bring the traditional governing system of Rome to an end.

Bringing Caesar Up to Date

Biographies of C. Julius Caesar are becoming a cottage industry, but this fresh and well-researched volume is a welcome addition to the catalog. Prof. Billows has clearly read and thought carefully about the works that came before him, and may be said to have fairly added to our understanding and appreciation of the man who is arguably the most fascinating human being in history. Scholars will much enjoy his grasp of his subject and some notably fresh insights (where else have we seen so cogent an argument that the Brutus of "et tu, etc." was not Marcus Brutus, but Decimus Brutus Albinus: worth the price just for this) and general readers will greatly profit from the scope and breadth of his learning.

A Fine Biography

With the exception of the chapter on the Gallic Campaign, which was plodding to say the least, this was an enjoyable and instructive read. Having said this it is unclear why this book is so expensive (I read a borrowed copy) compared to Goldsworthy's biography with a similar title. I have only browsed Goldwsworthy's book but it appears to be well written and informative as well. Paying so much extra for Billows' book is not worth it.

Finally! An approach that makes sense for a seemingly insurmountable task.

Ms. Klein has written a very clear and concise blueprint for self-study for the bar exam. After spending several wasted days, (that should've been spent actually studying), trying to come up with an attack plan to prepare for and feel confident about my ability to pass the CBE, I came across this book and it just seemed to all make sense.
This is a very doable method, and it is very comprehensive. I have spoken with a number of people who have spent thousands of dollars for the "big" bar review program, and many of them did not pass the bar despite the money and time they invested.
After purchase of the book and reading it through, I had a couple of questions that I sent to Ms. Klein in email and I am very pleased to report that my email questions were answered quite thoroughly and in a very timely fashion.
I would recommend this to Anyone who wants to pass the bar exam the first time around.

Interesting Guide for Self Study

A bit expensive for the information provided. The book is written in a large type so there is less information than you would expect by the appearance and number of pages.

This book is worth much more than it costs

This book is great. The method works. I was much better prepared for the July 2013 California Bar Exam after using The Goat's Guide than I was for the Illinois bar exam in July, 2010 after taking Bar-bri, even though the Illinois exam was much easier (I passed both). In 2013 I was in the same position as the author--a mom caring for a small child while my spouse worked full time--and I used her part time study method, and I started late, and I couldn't quite fit all the recommended exercises in--but I still passed and felt very well prepared during the exam. Everyone preparing for a bar exam, especially California's, should get this book.

Quite possibly the first and best printed resource to improve or implement Taekwondo into your special needs program

I met Mr. Ben Evans on Facebook and then learned about this Guide for Special Needs Taekwon-Do. Ben is certainly passionate about the art and the benefits of Taekwon-do for special needs students. Of that, there is little doubt. This guide, which is now in its second edition, surpassed my expectations. This is not a how-to book. It is, as titled, a guide to help Taekwon-do instructors either 1) better meet the needs of their students, but more importantly 2) how to develop a Taekwon-do special needs program for schools and organizations. The book has at least 1 photo on most pages, but the photos are not overly large nor consume space needlessly. The last 1/3 of the book or so instructs students, with photographs of a special needs student, how to perform several of the ITF Taekwon-do patterns.

Although this book is written by an ITF stylist, the principles found within these pages apply to any Taekwondo program, including WTF and independent programs. Taekwondo is only the vehicle to help special needs students grow and reach their full potential through an instructor who, at his or her core, cares about the development of the students. If you work with special needs students, that is probably one of the first requirements to begin with. Throughout this book, Ben Evans clearly demonstrates by word and deed that he believes every special needs student will benefit from learning and practicing Taekwon-do in ways that most do not realize.

If you operate a special needs program and are looking for a physical activity for the students, Taekwondo is an ideal activity to not only give them exercise but provide them with many other benefits. This guide is quite possibly the first published reference to help you research and implement just such a program for the special needs students in your care. This guide may also likely be the best resource as well to start you on this journey.

I believe the first 2 reviewers were commenting on the 1st edition of the book, criticisms which may have been accurate. This 2nd edition, however, addresses some of the weaknesses of the 1st edition. Every page has interesting and helpful information.

I would have like to seen more how one addresses the differing problems ...

I am a retired special ed teacher. I bought this book for my son as he teaches Taekwon-Do. It sat around my house for a while so I picked it and read it. I have to agree with the previous review that there are too many single photo pages and it adds to the cost. The real complaint I have is that there are different physical needs for special ed students. I would have like to seen more how one addresses the differing problems of these kids. How do you develop the necessary balance for martial arts? A good start and hopefully the author will address the concerns. Someone else needs to write some special needs books for martial arts. Get to it...

This is an important book but it has flaws. There is useful information that the author has learned while teaching Taekwon-Do to special needs kids. This is the useful part. The bad part is that it seems like a term paper turned in where the writer is trying to make a page count. The largest section of the book is one photo a page of one of his students doing Won-hyo. These could have been combined to four photos a page to keep the page count down. The books is unusually expensive thought I have been told that all profits go to the kids.

covers many global topics

The book offers a global view of societies and economic development, with somewhat of an emphasis on how third world nations are faring. Thus various approaches to how a country can progress are described. These include a study of demography, especially of how when birth rates are greater than death rates, the age makeup of a nation can play a vital party in determining its prospects for growth.

Aid for developing nations is explained. For emergencies like famine or after civil unrest, this can greatly help. But classical economic ideas like free trade and comparative advantage are also offered as other pathways of development. The narrative suggests that in the long run, such methods are more sustainable than depending on the charity of foreigners for continually giving aid.

A widely publicised recent idea is also covered - microcredit for making small loans to budding entrepreneurs in developing countries. The winning of the Nobel by Yunus for this is mentioned.

Global warming is another topic in the book. The possible consequences are outlined, including for poor nations, with few resources to combat climate and sea level changes.

The book is in perfect shape(almost like new) considering that it was used. The writing is a little vague but readable. I am using it for class since it was the book to purchase for it. Regardless, I am very interested in reading it till the end even if in class we don't have to. It has helped me understand the concept on globalization in a broader perspective.

DAVID AUGSBURGER (B.A., Eastern Mennonite College; B.D., Eastern Mennonite Seminary; Ph.D., School of Theology at Claremont), who has taught at Fuller since 1990, is professor of pastoral care and counseling in the School of Theology. The author of 20 books in pastoral counseling, marriage, conflict and human relations, David's titles include Dissident Discipleship: A Spirituality of Self-Surrender, and Love of God and Love of Neighbor. David lives in California.

Insightful, but difficult to follow

David Augsburger is an ordained minister in the Mennonite Church and also a professor of pastoral care and counseling at Fuller Theological Seminary. In those two roles he is quite credible as an author of a book on forgiveness.

I was disappointed in this book. That is not to say that I did not find much helpful information in it. But to me the book seemed to wander aimlessly toward forgiveness. While focusing on the "journey" may indeed be part of the process toward forgiveness, I thought that the book should have been more direct. I also thought it repeated itself a lot. Wading through such repetition made reading the book less appealing that it might have been.

I thought the book made a lot of vague points that were hard to grasp in a "real world" experience. When I reached the end of the book I concluded it was more about reconciliation than forgiveness. Though reconciliation is clearly a goal of forgiveness, it is not the only outcome, or even the most frequent outcome.

Augsburger does seem to grasp this concept at certain points. For example, he said "So few sins can be paid for, and so seldom does the victim posses the power or the advantage to demand payment" (page 18). Realizing that you cannot demand reconciliation or restitution but must forgive without them is a key concept to grab hold of. The concepts of reconciliation and forgiveness are related but are not emotional equivalents. While it is clear that Augsburger understands at some level that reconciliation is distinct from forgiveness, he spends a great part of the book trying to help the victim find that very reconciliation that he had already said might be impossible. It seems as if he talks himself out of a foundational idea that he began the book with.

Augsburger had several great quotes that would be helpful to share with those struggling with forgiveness. Two of them are found on page 18, "Revenge is not its own reward; it is its own punishment" and "Resentment takes the soul hostage." Both of those statements clearly and concisely present truth about certain aspects of the forgiveness process that I found very helpful.

Augsburger clearly understands that forgiveness is a process. This understanding is displayed in numerous sections of the book. He says that forgiveness often "happens in small but increasing increments, step by step, until the journey of restoring love, recognizing repentance, reclaiming relationship, and reopening the future has been completed" (page 41). He goes on to state that "Forgiveness is not an act--it is a process" (page 48). He further develops the idea of forgiveness as a process when he says "Process is as important as content in resolving inner as well as interpersonal conflicts" (page 81).

I also liked his statement that "Forgiveness is not a gift one claims, internalizes, and then possesses for life. It must be rediscovered in each situation of pain" (page 48). I appreciated Augsburger's continued discussion of this concept throughout the book.

But it is conclusions such as "real forgiveness comes with the recovery of a relationship, even when the rupture is repeated again and again" (page 42) that I struggle with. I just don't agree because this defines forgiveness as the recovery of the relationship. I think that too often this is just impossible. If we make it part of the definition of forgiveness, then we will prevent many from ever completing the journey toward forgiveness. Too many people I have dealt with over the years have been hurt so deeply by someone that a relationship is not only unlikely, but simply unsafe. I am thinking primarily of those who have been abused in some way by someone they trusted. For me to tell them that they can only learn to forgive if they reestablish a relationship with that person is to do a great disservice to them in my opinion.

For people who have been so deeply hurt by others, it is not reconciliation that they need to work on, but anger issues. Augsburger did have one chapter on this subject. The chapter was helpful. He said "disciplined anger focuses its demands on what is just and on what is good" (page 63). The world needs to see some good examples of disciplined anger instead of uncontrolled rage. He also said "Use anger. Do not let it use you" (page 64). Furthermore, he said "Getting mad may be necessary sometimes, but remaining mad never is!" (page 68). It reminds me of what the Bible says in Ephesians 4:26 "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath."

Overall I thought this was a helpful book with many good concepts. However, because of its endless repetitions and conceptual wanderings, it is unlikely that I would recommend this book to others.
